ABARIBE: YOU CAN NOT DRIVE ROLLS ROYCE TO MY HOUSE AND ASK ME TO LEND YOU MONEY
A very proactive Senate leader, Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, according to the report from the Vanguard acknowledged Nigeria’s tumultuous past and warned that the country may continue to face difficulties unless it takes appropriate action.
He emphasized that conspicuous displays of wealth amidst widespread poverty are unproductive and detrimental to the nation’s progress.
He urged those in power to fulfill their responsibilities and address the nation’s challenges, highlighting the contradiction between extravagant government spending on luxury items and seeking financial assistance from citizens.
He likened this situation to an individual driving a Rolls Royce and requesting a loan, asserting that such behavior is both hypocritical and unacceptable.
He said, “We have had a turbulent history, but I think we are going to have a lot more unless we do the right things. It is clear now that ostentatious living in the midst of poverty will not take us anywhere. Let those in authority gird their loins and do the work for which they have been elected, which is to solve the problems of Nigeria
You can’t be buying new planes, building new houses, when the masses are suffering. You cannot drive a Rolls Royce to my house and ask me to lend you money because I will not give you. This is what Nigeria is doing.”
