The FCT Police Command has taken action following a concerning incident involving Shuaibu Alhaji Yushau, who climbed a high broadband mast at ASO Radio in Katampe, Abuja, on July 8, 2024, and attempted to take his own life. Today, July 9, 2024, Yushau has been sent to the Social Development Secretariat (SDS) for mental assessment and evaluation
According to the police spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, if Yushau is found to be mentally stable, he will face charges for attempted suicide, disturbance of public peace, and incitement. These charges are in accordance with sections 231, 111, and 114 of the Penal Code Act
The Commissioner of Police, FCT, CP Benneth C. Igweh, emphasized the importance of law-abiding behavior among residents, especially when voicing their concerns. He stated that the police are committed to maintaining law and order and will not be pressured into allowing any disruptions.
