Junior Pope: AGN Reverses Suspension of Adanma Luke and Permits Riverine Filming
Emeka Rollas, President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), has lifted the suspension on Adanma Luke, the producer of the movie The Other Side of Life, where Nollywood actor John Paul Odonwodo, known as Junior Pope, and four others tragically lost their lives.
In a statement released on August 3, AGN National Secretary Abubakar Yakubu announced that these decisions were made during the guild’s National Executive Council meeting.
The statement reads in part:
“The National President of the Guild, Dr. Ejezie Emeka Rollas, MON, announces the lifting of the suspension on Adanma Luke, producer of the movie *Another Side of Life*, where actor Junior Pope and four other crew members lost their lives in Anam River.
The President has also lifted the ban on filming in riverine areas, but urges members to adhere to all safety protocols as outlined in the AGN Bylaws.”
The tragic incident occurred on April 10, 2024, when a boat transporting the crew to the filming location capsized near River Niger Cable Point in Asaba, Delta State.
Following the accident, AGN had suspended Ms. Luke indefinitely for violating safety protocols and prohibited members from collaborating with her. The guild also banned riverine filming and boat rides to prevent future tragedies and ensure the safety of actors and crew.
