Revelations from a Former Member of Mark Angel Comedy: The Untold Story
In a recent interview, Dennison Igwe, a former member of the Mark Angel Comedy crew, made some startling claims about the origins and financial management of the popular comedy group. According to Igwe, he played a pivotal role in starting Mark Angel Comedy. He recounted how Mark Angel, who was then working as a security guard at Kilimanjaro Restaurant in GRA, Port Harcourt, was introduced to him. Igwe was initially involved in camera work and even went so far as to steal a camera to begin filming skits for the group.
Dennison Igwe revealed that Mark Angel suggested creating a Facebook page to showcase their content. The page eventually became monetized, but Igwe claimed he was never informed about the financial success. He was surprised when Mark bought a car in 2014 and was told it was a gift from someone else.
Further, Dennison Igwe shared that while Mark began paying Emmanuella N20,000 monthly, the rest of the team, including Igwe, was living in poverty. Igwe, who described himself as an orphan, claimed that Mark never provided him with any money until 2016, when he was given ₦50,000 with the explanation that their efforts were not yet profitable. Despite their substantial earnings of $160,000 at the time, Igwe felt the financial rewards were not fairly distributed.
Dennison Igwe asserted that he is the only one willing to speak out about these issues, stating he is no longer afraid due to his circumstances. He implied that others in the crew remain silent out of fear of mysterious accidents or harm, suggesting a culture of intimidation surrounding Mark Angel.
This interview sheds light on internal conflicts and financial discrepancies within one of Nigeria’s most popular comedy teams.
