Reasons Why Reno Omokri Attacks Igbos and Peter Obi, Ifeanyi Ejiofor
Ifeanyi Ejiofor, a lead counsel for Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has publicly accused Reno Omokri of repeatedly targeting Igbos and Labour Party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, for financial profit. Ejiofor claims that Omokri, a well-known social commentator and former presidential aide, strategically crafts derogatory and inflammatory posts about Igbos and Peter Obi to generate high engagement on his social media platforms—Facebook, Instagram, and X (formerly Twitter).
According to Ejiofor, these posts are not random acts of bias but are part of a calculated strategy aimed at driving traffic to Omokri’s platforms. The more provocative his content, the more comments, shares, and reactions it garners, which in turn increases his impression revenue. Ejiofor suggests that Omokri’s income is significantly boosted by these engagements, making it a lucrative business model for him.
The lawyer argues that by engaging with Omokri’s content—whether to argue, correct, or criticize—people are inadvertently fueling his revenue-generating machine. Ejiofor warns that Omokri’s actions are not motivated by patriotism or a desire to contribute positively to national discourse, but rather by the financial gains he can extract from heightened engagement.
To counter this, Ejiofor advises that the best way to stop Omokri’s relentless attacks is through collective silence. He urges Igbos and supporters of Peter Obi to unfollow Omokri, ignore his posts, and spread awareness of his tactics. According to Ejiofor, denying Omokri the attention he seeks will ultimately diminish the profitability of his provocative content and put an end to his ethnic baiting.
By understanding the underlying motive behind Omokri’s posts, Ejiofor believes that people can effectively dismantle the strategy that sustains his controversial social media presence.
