SHOCKING: Naval Officer Arrested for Murder of Former Naval Chief’s Son in Abuja
In a startling turn of events, Abdul Rasheed Muhammad, a Nigerian Navy officer, has been apprehended in connection with the brutal murder of Aminu Ibrahim, the son of retired Vice Admiral I. I. Ibrahim, a former Chief of Naval Staff. The arrest occurred after Muhammad allegedly killed Aminu and stole his vehicle two weeks ago.
During a press briefing in Abuja on Wednesday, Commissioner of Police for the Federal Capital Territory, Bennett Igweh, revealed the grim details of the crime. the Naval Officer confirmed that Muhammad had not only committed the murder but also taken Aminu’s Prado SUV, which has since been recovered.
Commissioner Igweh stated, “Two weeks prior, Aminu Ibrahim, the son of retired Vice Admiral I. I. Ibrahim, was robbed and murdered in the Maitama district of Abuja. His vehicle, a Prado SUV, was stolen during the incident. Abdul Rasheed Muhammad, a serving member of the Nigerian Navy, has been identified as the perpetrator. He has admitted to the crime, and we have successfully retrieved the stolen vehicle.”
In a confession to the media, Muhammad disclosed that he was assigned as a security guard at the former Chief of Naval Staff’s residence. He recounted, “I was on duty at the house when Aminu wanted to go out around 11:30 p.m. He requested security, so I accompanied him with my firearm. Along the way, he stopped to check his ATM, and I thought he might be going to buy something. However, when I got out through another door, I shot him, took his car, and left. I had no personal grievance; I killed him solely to steal his vehicle.”
In addition to Muhammad’s arrest, 94 members of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria were also paraded by the police following the death of two police officers on Sunday.
